At the foot of the Berici Mountains overlooking it, Vicenza (included in the Unesco world heritage list) is Palladio’s preeminent town (there are more than 10 Palladian buildings in the town center alone), a real Renaissance jewel. But there is also a lesser-known Vicenza, consisting of gothic-Venetian buildings and views of the hills and the Alps foothills; surrounding the city the province offers small jewels such as Bassano and Marostica.
The town of Vicenza has remote origins, that go back to the prehistoric age. In the medioeval area Vicenza was under the domination of the Scaligery dynasty, but from 1404 to 1797 the long Venetian domination guaranteed four centuries of peace and well-being. The art reached very high levels and the economy grew. The 16th century was the time of the great architect Andrea Palladio, who left Vicenza and the whole world a priceless artistic heritage. In the 19th century, after the fall of Napoleone, the town passed to the Austrians and later belonged to the Lombard Venetian Kingdom.
In 1866 it was united to the Kingdom of Italy. The first World War was mostly fought in the province of Vicenzas, while the Second World War also affected the town, that was seriously damaged by bombs.

Villas and Castles

1. The Villa was built in 1542 by the architect Andrea Palladio. Inside the Villa there are nine rooms with frescoes by Gianbattista Zelotti, Battista del Moro and Gualtiero Padovano. In 1962, after a long period of carelessness, professor Remo Malinverni bought the Villa, bringing it back to its old splendour.

2. Immersed in an intimate and secluded angle of the Veneto plains, the villa is a prestigious residence superbly reconstructed to it’s original beauty.
Of the Palladian school, it was designed in the 1500’s as a summer residence.
The layout of the rooms follows the canons for villas in the Veneto; the great Mediana hall on two levels and four rooms on it’s side.
The main structure, that expands on the rectangular plot, is flanked by a Tuscanico portico on the left with an entablature structure and by an arched portico on the right.
The raised loggia and the colonnade of the stables were readapted more recently. The southern side of the court is marked by a surrounding wall where two original entrance portals still stand.
The small church of S. Giustina, that flanks the villa, was built in 1697 by the noble Venetian Giobatta Canal.
Today the Villa, with it’s efficient structure, is able to satisfy the guests’ most demanding requests, offering a refined, cozy and discreet environment.
It is the ideal place for business commitments, important receptions and intimate banquet occasions.
