By Plane:
The Marco Polo Airport is located 12 km overland land and 10 km over water from Venice and is well connected to the city by public transportation lines (water and land) and to the rail station in Mestre.
The slip road opened in 1991 connects the Marco Polo airport directly to the roadway network. The airport serves the entire tri-region of Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Trentino Alto Adige.

Treviso Airport is 3 km from the town centre on the trunk road SS 515 in the direction of Padova - near the by-pass SS53, which connects Treviso to the main motorways in just a few minutes.
From the A4 motorway:
Take the A27 motorway in the direction of Treviso - Belluno; exit at Treviso Sud Take the by-pass (SS 53 highway) in the direction of Treviso - Castelfranco Turn left at the traffic lights towards Padova (SS 515)
The airport is 300 metres after the traffic lights, on the left.

EuroBus service from the airport to Mestre (railway station) and Venezia (Piazzale Roma) The service is in connections with the departures and the arrivals of the BASIQ-AIR flights and the RYANAIR flights.

By Car:
Getting to Venice by car is easy: the directions to reach the city are clearly marked with road signs.
Venice can be reached by:

- the A4 from Trieste and from Turin
- the A27 from Belluno
- the A13 from Bologna

The only vehicle access road to Venice, the Ponte della Libertà, is a straight road 4 km. long with two lanes in each direction, where the speed limits are clearly indicated. Always observe the speed limits posted, never stop on the bridge and always be careful when driving.
Parking areas in Venice are located in Piazzale Roma and Tronchetto.However, during peak tourist season, it is best to park in the mainland area of Venice. |
By Train:
Venice has two rail stations.
- The first station that all Venice-bound trains enter is the Venice-Mestre Rail Station.
This station does not bring you to Venice, but rather Mestre, mainland Venice.

You can get to the city from the station by taking the city bus or by taxi (Call a taxi: tel. 041.936222).
- After crossing the bridge that spans the lagoon, the train next comes to the Santa Lucia Station of Venice.

Before 1846, the year the rail bridge was officially opened, Venice and the mainland were connected only via water.
The rail station is located on Fondamenta S. Lucia - 30100 Venice.
Services for the Disabled:
The Venice-Mestre and Venice-Santa Lucia rail stations are accessible to disabled persons. The stations have access ramps, wheelchair access restroom facilities, and two Welcome Centres.
Reserve 24 hours in advance if you are planning to take advantage the assistance service offered for boarding the train.
To date, the ticket and travel information counters have unfortunately not been adapted to disabled persons.
The Venice-Mestre station has a motorized wheelchair lifts to reach the platforms, although they are not always in service. Access to the boarding platforms is not a problem in the Venice-Santa Lucia station as there are no underground passages.
The Disabled Welcome Centre of the Mestre and Venice-Santa Lucia stations (Tel. 041-785570 - Fax 041-785038) are open to the public from 7:00 am until 9:00 p.m.
